The Streamline project has been looking into how to make the process of generating metadata simpler for learning objects. Good metadata is important for searching and reusing objects, particularly the keywords field. LOM (learning object metadata) contains 37 main fields of which about a dozen are classed as mandatory. We have developed a desktop prototype for the automatic generation of some of these fields. It is intended to make it into a web service so it can plugin to repositories.
